In ‘Минең һауа’ MC DAN tells us about love and its strong effect. If it comes you can’t ever overrule it. We found many familiar words and expressions, too. You know, because it is an essential universal feeling. Yet, the song gave us a very unique gentelmanly Bashkirian flavor of approaching it.
The Bashkir language has a unique, somwhat expanded phonology among other Turkic languages. That being the case, the song has this experimental feeling, it has 108 “wa”s, including in words ‘Hawa’ which is ‘hava’ in Turkish, and ‘Dawa’ — ‘deva’ in Turkish. ‘Yörägemä dawa‘ is no different from Turkish use of ‘yüreğe deva’. Interestingly it is not a common word in Turkish anymore.
Also, ‘tormoş’ which means life is quite common across the Turkic world, but it is not present in Turkish, in which it would be ‘durmuş’, instead foreign loanwords Hayat or Ömür are used.
The affix -ır (i.e. Булырhын) is used to mean the future tense unlike in Turkish in which it is used to refer to present.
There are 3 words for love in the song: maxabbat, höyöw, yaratam ‘I love’. None are easily recgonizable for a Turkish person, who uses muhabbet to mean ‘conversation’, yaratmak — to create, and höyöw, which is ‘sevgi’ in turkish is a Turkic word obscured phonetically due to weakening of /s/ to /h/.
Without special training it is not possible to recognize the words below.

- hıźlanıp — sızlanıp
There are also words that Turkish doesn’t have or uses in a way different from other Turkic languages.
- köt- ‘to wait, expect’ — güt- ‘to herd’
- bergä ‘together’ ← ber-gä — birlikte ← bir+lik+te
- tap- ‘to find’ — tap- ‘to worship’
We also translated Par aqqoştay as a pair of birds, because the comparison to a pair of swans does not have the same effect in Turkish or English, which have a different picture of the world in terms of associating birds and plants with certain traits, like faithfulness and grace which are commonly attributed to swans commonly in Bashkir and other Turkic language, but not at least common in Turkish anymore.
